BLIND RIVETS FOR ROOF BOXES

A manufacturer of car roof boxes asked us for advice on its products.

The technical representative in charge of the project was in difficulty because he had to face with several critical elements with a single fastening system:

• the stresses and vibrations the car is subjected while driving
• the weather conditions: cargo boxes are used above all during the holidays, which means they pass through ice and snow in winter, and  heat, sand and saltiness during the summer
• the boxes are made of light and fragile material: plastic, often covered in felt on the inside

Having internalized all the production – with the exception of only some treatments – gives us the advantage of developping any type of customized rivets.

Therefore, our R&D designed the ideal solution for this application: an aluminium/stainless steel multigrip rivet with extra large head.

These are the features that make it unique:

• Soft nail and extra-large head provide a good grip on the plastic, without damaging it
• Stainless steel A2 guarantees excellent resistance to all types of weather conditions
• The fact that it is multigrip allows to use it even on holes that are not round (e.g. oval etc.)
• The extra-large head gives a good grip, and consequent resistance to vibrations
• The version painted on RAL upon sample allows the rivet to fit harmoniously into the application, even from an aesthetic point of view

The result obtained is therefore a customized blind rivet perfectly in line with the technical and also aesthetic features required.
