SARIV was chosen by Würth as a global best practice case for custom blind rivet solutions in the automotive sector.
The project involved five distinct application points, each with specific technical requirements, varying thicknesses, and different materials:
1. Bearing block to metal sheet
2. Gearbox housing to metal sheet
3. Push rod to articulated arm
4. Push rod to output plate
5. Articulated arm to tie rod

The project required a high-performance solution, capable of adapting to various combinations of materials and thicknesses, without compromising on either functional or aesthetic quality. Key requirements included:
No dust formation or coating detachment during assembly
No visual contamination (e.g., staining on white surfaces)
Resistance to 25,000 opening/closing cycles and tensile loads up to 2,500 N
Our first proposal was a stainless steel structural rivet with a burnished head, ensuring high load resistance and a clean black finish.
Following the first assembly tests by the customer, which revealed some critical issues at two of the five application points, SARIV proposed an improved second solution: a multigrip A2 stainless steel rivet with a round head, a dedicated grip range, and a surface coating either burnished or black Zn/Ni treated. This provided a precise response to the critical tolerances identified in the assembly process.
