Case study
In scaffolding systems, every component matters. Sariv partnered with a major manufacturer of modular scaffolding for constructions to develop a custom rivet, used not as a fastener, but as a load-bearing joint for a locking hook.
“When the rivet becomes part of the structural system, shear strength and installation speed are non-negotiable.”
The application required a completely different approach than conventional fasteners:
• The rivet was not used to join materials, but to act as a joint for a mechanical hook.
• Manual installation was required – automatic machines were not feasible.
• Standard rivets or solid rivets had too long installation times.
• The application involved two thin sheets with an empty cavity, requiring a longer body rivet.
• High shear strength was crucial to ensure mechanical stability.
To solve the production and mechanical criticalities, Sariv has developed a steel blind rivet, optimised with:
• Extended body length to match the internal cavity of the application.
• Tight dimensional tolerances for precise hook fit.
• Mandrel with long breaking point to maximize shear resistance.
• Manual-friendly installation, with reduced cycle time.
• Faster, safer, and structurally stronger features than the previous solution.
With Sariv solution, the customer obtained:
• Improved safety and stability of the scaffolding
• Significantly faster assembly
• Fewer mounting errors
• A more robust and compliant structural product
